Learn to Love Yourself

“With the world evolving so rapidly, trends changing, new job opportunities emerging, and new social norms, we tend to lose track of ourselves in the ever-transforming landscape of the 21st century. As exciting as this technological future may appear, we must always remember a principle that has been with us since the dawn of humanity: ‘Learn to love yourself.’

I understand that you might be thinking, ‘That is some of the most narcissistic jargon I’ve read all day,’ or ‘What do you mean, love yourself?’ What I mean by this term, and what our ancestors believed about it, is that truly loving yourself is void of any ill intention towards yourself or your fellow human beings. True self-love involves steadfastly upholding your integrity and values while also guiding others to discover their own inner truths.

A divine flame resides within all of us, but this flame dwindles the less we love ourselves. It is of utmost importance to cultivate positive thoughts and habits about yourself because a general rule of thumb is, ‘If I am being my best self, then I am providing a valuable service to the world.’ If you struggle with understanding yourself and how to cultivate self-love, then look no further! I have a few tips to help you get started:

  • Practice mindfulness (Be aware of the moment and how you are spending your time. You are either growing or becoming complacent.)
  • Meditation / moments of reflection (Set aside time in your day, away from others and distractions. Sit quietly, relax, close your eyes, and breathe. Even if you’re not into meditation, find a peaceful place to sit in silence to clear your mind.)
  • Analyze your emotions (Emotions are powerful. When you experience intense emotions, pause and analyze what you’re feeling so you can make the most of this energy. This is a win because if you can analyze a negative emotion before it consumes your mind, you can transform that negativity into something constructive.)
  • Read (Reading alone offers numerous benefits that are too numerous to list here. Personal development books, poetry, and esoteric philosophy have worked best for me. Regardless, reading is essential, and depending on what you read, it could change your life.)
  • Establish a routine (This is crucial because it provides structure in your life. You know how it feels when you want to do things but never get around to doing them? Well, that’s because we are creatures of habit. If you spend days doing nothing, chances are that’s what you’ll achieve. Wake up and sleep at a decent hour, clean your living space, work out, run, and the rest is up to you. Also, remember to eat healthily and drink water; you are what you ingest, both mentally and physically! Keep that in mind the next time you choose to indulge in artificial substances.)

There are many more ways to cultivate self-worth, but it’s crucial to do so to make the most of our time here. We are beings of infinite potential, and we have the power to manifest anything we desire. This realm can be heaven or hell; it depends on the person. One thing is certain, though: self-love is essential, and I hope you find this blog useful.

Thank you for reading.
